VCA School Trip - Puebla, Mexico - MAY 2025
The primary objective will be to serve the students of Bethlehem Christian Academy in the Sierra Negra Mountains. There will be opportunities to serve in a variety of ways:
- Ministry to children attending the school
- Ministry to children in the surrounding community
- Ministry to the current and future teachers at the school
- Ministry to support the local church who helped start the school
- Ministry to support the church planting efforts in the surrounding villages
Selected members will be asked to lead morning devotionals to encourage the team and turn hearts to the Lord.

Background Check Consent Form Required
Due 4/30/2025
All participants that are age 18 or older, who apply for a trip with The Nations Initiative or Bethlehem Christian Academy, must complete a national background check at least 30 days before the trip starts.

If a background check has been administered for you within the last year and you would prefer to provide a copy of the results, please feel free to submit this to our team via the same email. The background check must be conducted by a qualified service provider and include the following minimum criteria:
- Multi-State Criminal Record/Sexual Offender
- Search Social Security or Identity Verification
Adult Leader Disqualification:
The following behaviors discovered in a background check will automatically disqualify a person without review or recourse:
- Having any traits or tendencies that could pose any threat to children, youth, or others
- Sexual misconduct including crimes resulting in conviction
- Violence against another person resulting in a felony conviction within the last 10 years
- Use/distribution of illicit drugs or controlled substances resulting in conviction in the last 10 years
- Property crime resulting in conviction in the last 10 years
We cannot make exceptions to this requirement for any reason, including testimonies of miraculous rehabilitation. The church is not obligated to report specific findings to The Nations Initiative or Bethlehem Christian Academy. Other infractions that may come up on a background check will not necessarily disqualify a person by our standards.

Parental Consent Form for Minors
Due 4/30/2025
Anyone under the age of 18 traveling with a mission team from The Nations Initiative or Bethlehem Christian Academy MUST have a Parental Consent Form in their possession to leave the country unless accompanied by a parent.
Minors under 18 years of age must travel with parental consent. Failure to comply may result in denied boarding.
Please open the Parental Consent Form. Upon completion, print, sign, and return this by either taking a picture and emailing it to [email protected] or mailing to The Nations Initiative, 5409 Baumgartner Rd, St. Louis, MO 63129.
Requirements
Prerequisites
- All participants must have a valid passport, not expiring within six months of the final date of the trip.
Responsibilities
- Team will be responsible for VBS, Sports Camps, Discipleship Training, Work Projects, and/or Various Other service opportunities.
- Some team members will have opportunities to assist with teacher and/or pastoral training, depending on needs and gifting.
- Team will have evangelistic opportunities among the students and community.
- You should be prepared to share the gospel and the testimony of what God has done to save you and His current work in your heart and life.
Restrictions
- Must be a student or chaperone from Victory Christian Academy.
Preparation
- Spiritual Preparation: Begin praying for those who you will minister to, for the team, and for your own heart in particular.
- Spiritual Preparation: Consider and write out your testimony. Remember that you will be working through translators, so write it simple, direct, and clear.
- Spiritual Preparation: Do not expect that you will do in some other place what you are unwilling to do here... so start
- Physical Preparation: Packing lists and cultural information will come as the trip approaches.
- Physical Preparation: This community is located in the mountains and there may be a great deal of walking. Begin to prepare yourself physically by walking daily and being prepared to go up and down inclines at altitude.
